The academy will have many instructors from the community and even special guest instructors from time to time. But there are a few you might see quite a bit.

Antonio Morales has over 20 years of experience dancing to Latin rhythms and has spent 12 years as an instructor and choreographer. He has showcased his talent at numerous dance festivals throughout Mexico. Currently, Antonio shares his passion and expertise in the San Francisco Bay Area, teaching weekly classes at the SF Daytime Salsa Social, The Beat, and iheartmambo.

Michael Kagan began his salsa career when he crossed paths with Trang in Hanoi in 2016. (Yes, a true salsa love story!) He progressed quickly and soon began performing both with Trang and on Beso Latino’s teams, completing routines in salsa, bachata, and kizomba. Early on, Michael was exposed to a variety of styles and instructors and attended international festivals in Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore. Since moving back to the US in 2018, Michael has trained and performed with two dance companies: Mambo Romero and Yamulee SF. Michael began teaching as an assistant to Trang in Vietnam in 2017 and as primary instructor in San Francisco in 2021. A year later, Michael directed his first team choreography under the name Baraban Dance Project, performing at SFSBK and Nova Latin Dance festivals. Together with Trang, he has choreographed for bootcamps, teams, and weddings.

Trang is among the first generation of salsa dancers in Vietnam and boasts over 15 years of experience in teaching latin dance. A ballroom dancer at first, she was introduced to bachata and salsa by her teacher Sy who pioneered salsa across Vietnam. From the start, she instinctively spread the joy of salsa to a wider community. She traveled to Hanoi to practice and soon opened her first studio, Jan, in her home town of Hai Phong to share her passion and grow the scene. In 2016, Trang moved to Hanoi to become the studio manager and resident salsa instructor at Beso Latino, where she continued teaching at all levels while adding youth classes and performance choreography to her repertoire. During this time Trang expanded her horizons by participating in international congresses in Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, India, and San Francisco. Trang moved to SF permanently in 2023, where she has continued to learn, teach, and inspire dancers of all levels. Some of her salsa idols are Griselle Ponce and Eddie Torres Jr. Outside of dance, Trang runs a cake business and loves practicing yoga and mindfulness.
Diego Jarosky, director of Sin Censura dance company, began dancing in 2016 in Austin, later training with Iroko and performing with Yamuleé in New York before moving to the Bay Area to continue his career and launch Sin Censura. He is committed to developing well-rounded dancers and fostering an inclusive community through events like A Bailar and workshops that connect and inspire. At SF Salsa Academy, Diego helps students sharpen their skills, express themselves, and find community through salsa.
David has been dancing salsa since his first class in New York City in 2009. He trained with Piel Canela in New York, and then, after relocating to the Bay Area in 2011, has trained and performed with Ava Apple and Rodolfo Guzman and Yamulee San Francisco. He's been an instructor at various socials throughout the Bay Area for over 10 years, including SF Mambo, Mucha Salsa, and Mucho Mambo. His passion for social dance has taken him on dance trips to Paris, Vienna, Korea, Prague, and London, and he's not done yet.
Yeny has been dancing salsa since 2017 and brings both passion and precision to her classes. She has trained with respected teams including Salsamania Student Team, Karel Flores San Francisco under Natasha Tia, and Yamulee Project SF. A dedicated social dancer at heart, Yeny is driven by a constant desire to refine her technique and explore the deeper mechanics of movement. In her classes, expect a proactive and methodical approach focused on building a strong technical foundation while encouraging personal expression and the discovery of your own style. Yeny believes that mastering the basics opens the door to creative freedom—and she’s here to guide students through that journey with clarity, intention, and a love for the dance floor.
